It all began on an ordinary yet special day, December 17, 2023. That day, a train slowly departed from Tainan, passing through Taichung. From that moment, Johny walked into Heather's world. Perhaps fate quietly arranged our meeting at some unexpected turn.
December 30, 2023, the streets of Taipei were bustling as usual, yet we found resonance in each other's silence. January 5, 2024, on a chilly night, on the bridge over Keelung River, I spoke some simple yet truthful words. It was like a stone quietly dropped into the river's heart, with ripples spreading ever since.
In the following days, the distance of over a hundred kilometers between Taichung and Keelung seemed to become somewhat ethereal yet poetic. Until August 2024, when Heather successfully passed the teacher's exam in Taichung, our two stories finally began to intertwine in the same city.
At our favorite He Rang Restaurant & Bar, accompanied by familiar and soothing music and the warm gazes of friends, I gently asked her an incredibly important question, and she responded with a quiet yet determined smile.
